Chief Academic Digital Officer
Dr. Brendan Guenther (he/him) works at the intersection of digital transformation and academic innovation. Brendan works across ADI to assist the Vice Provost and ensure our colleagues deliver on our project commitments, align with the strategic plan, and maintain operational tempo.
An experienced entrepreneur, Brendan helps pair MSU faculty with the right resources to deliver innovative academic programming to new audiences. A technology skeptic, Brendan brings critical thinking and hard-earned experience to cutting-edge educational technology and emerging uses of artificial intelligence. Brendan previously served for several years as an executive manager in Information Technology. In addition to retaining full-stack development skills, Brendan is an experienced program manager, project manager, and product manager. His online learning experience started with experimental courses in 1997 and grew as he oversaw MSU's first-mover entry into online degree programs.
Brendan earned an Ed.D. in Leadership and Innovation at Purdue University and an MA in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications at Michigan State University. Brendan is an outdoor and fitness enthusiast, enjoying challenging individual fitness adventures that include community and camaraderie, such as skiing, orienteering races, or relay running. After work, you can find Brendan training for his next adventure and reading about technology or adult learning.
